The original club logo showing the silhouette of a red Siberian was adopted in the Fall of 1969, and was only
recently changed to our current version.

| |
In May 1970 SHCNE applied to the AKC to allow our Siberian dog show, then called the Fall Match, to become AKC
sanctioned. This took until the Winter of 1972 to become a reality. However, AKC required SHCNE to make our
constitution and bylaws consistent with the AKC Form. We also had to change the club name, because the AKC would
not accept a local specialty club with a name specifically denoting a geographical area. The suggested names were:
Yankee Siberian Husky Club, Chukchi Siberian Husky Club, Patriot Siberian Husky Club, Kalyma Siberian Husky Club and
Colonial Siberian Husky Club. In June 1972 the club officially became Yankee Siberian Husky Club.

In the Fall of 1970, club members toured the Chinook Kennels at Wonalancet, NH for the 50th anniversary of the kennels.

In October 1970 Short Seeley was made an Honorary Life Member.

The first "working day" was held at Foss Field in Carlisle, MA on September 27, 1970. A Wheel training clinic, demonstration
with varied rigs took place, harnesses and ganglines were available and many questions answered.

The first specialty dog show was held in December 1978 at the Eastern Dog Club Show at Hynes Auditorium in Boston.
|

The first independent specialty was held at Wilmington Industrial Park, Wilmington, MA on June 1, 1979.

In 1986 YSHC established a 60 mile sled dog race in Sandwich, NH called the "Sandwich Notch 60". Eventually a
30 mile race was added and subsequently a 15 mile skijor race.
