YSHC Sled Dog Demonstration
Saturday: November 20, 2010 - 1-3 PM
Houghton's Pond, Blue Hills State Park (DCR) Main Parking Area, Canton, MA
Participants need to arrive between Noon and 1 PM to get set up and ready before 1 PM
This is our 7th year doing this! We set up with all our gear, rigs, sleds, scooters, bikes etc. Periodically we send
teams around Houghton's Pond so the public, not familiar with Dog Sled racing, can see actual working dogs in action,
not on TV or in a movie.
This is well advertised by DCR each year in their Fall program and they currently have a huge banner showing a dog sled
scene posted at the approach off Route 128. It is well attended, several hundred spectators come. Many are annual
visitors, many are first time.
Again, this year Boston Snow Dogs will also participate.
COME SEE / PARTICIPATE!
Come watch and or help. If you want to be a part of this annual tradition please contact John Kenney. We need to plan for
who is coming to arrange places. It is a good time and very much appreciated by both the DCR staff as well as the
public. It helps to dispel myths of what it is we do!
Please come!
Directions by car:
From Route 93, take exit 3 (Houghton's Pond, Ponkapoag Trail exit) from Rte. 93. Follow the signs to Houghton's Pond.
