YSHC Membership Requirements

Section 1. ELIGIBILITY: There shall be one type of general voting membership open to all persons eighteen years of age and older who are in good standing with the American Kennel Club and who will subscribe to the purposes of this club. While membership is to be unrestricted as to residence, the Clubs primary purpose is to be representative of the interested Siberian Husky owners, breeders and exhibitors in its immediate area.
  1. Voting members are required to have participation in the Siberian Husky breed.

  2. There shall be a non voting: associate membership available to those who live out of the immediate area or to those who are unable to attend a minimum of either two (2) regular meetings per year or help at two (2) club activities per year or a combination of one (1) of each.

  3. Associate members are not eligible for election to any office or to the Board of Directors of the Club and are not eligible for annual club awards.

  4. There shall be a non voting Junior Membership available to persons ten to eighteen years of age, proposed to membership by an adult member.

  5. Junior memberships shall convert automatically to voting membership upon attaining the age of 18.

  6. Junior members are not eligible for election to any office or to the Board of Directors of the Club.

Section 2. DUES: Dues shall be established upon the recommendation of the Board of Directors annually (but not to exceed more than $5.00 over the dues of the previous year), payable on or before the annual meeting.
  1. The fee for Associate membership shall be 70% and the fee for Junior membership shall be 50% of the general membership fee.

  2. Dues for new Associate members will be accepted at club events.

  3. Family dues will be 50% more than the individual general membership fee.

  4. The Family membership fee will cover any number of persons residing in the same household who are currently accepted as members.

  5. No member may vote, be elected to any office or the Board of Directors, whose dues are not paid for the current year.

  6. During the month of May, the Treasurer shall send to each member a statement of dues for the year.

Section 3. ELECTION TO MEMBERSHIP: Each applicant for membership shall apply on a form as approved by the Board of Directors and which shall provide that the applicant agrees to abide by the constitution and by-laws and the rules of the American Kennel Club, and the Code of Ethics of the Siberian Husky Club of America (the Parent Club).
  1. The application shall state the name, address, and phone number of the applicant.

  2. Accompanying the application the prospective member shall submit dues payment for the current year.

  3. All applications are to be filed with the Membership Committee prior to the general meeting, an interview between the prospective member and a Membership Committee representative must take place.

  4. The Membership Committee will have the applicants name posted in the Gangline prior to the next general meeting.

  5. The applicant will be voted on at the next general meeting where the applicant is in attendance

  6. In the case of the associate membership applicant, one needs not be present, so long as he / she has been to at least one meeting or activity and has been interviewed by a representative of the Membership Committee.

  7. Affirmative votes of of the members present and voting at the meeting shall be required to elect the applicant.

  8. Applications for membership who have been rejected by the Club may not reapply within six months of such rejection.

Section 4. TERMINATION OF MEMBERSHIP: Membership may be terminated by:
  1. Resignation. Any member in good standing may resign from the Club upon written notice to the secretary, but no member may resign when in debt to the Club. Dues obligations are considered a dept to the Club and they become incurred on the first day of each fiscal year.

  2. Lapsing: A membership shall be considered lapsed and automatically terminated if such members dues remain unpaid 30 days after the first day of the fiscal year. In no case may a person be entitled to vote or be elected to office or the Board whose dues are unpaid as of the date of the annual meeting. Reinstatement in exceptional cases may be determined at the discretion of the Board.

  3. Expulsion: A membership may be terminated as provided in Article IV of the by-laws
